He entered residency training at the USAF Medical Center Keesler at Keesler Air Force Base, MS, later that year. He delivered case and research presentations at District ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) meetings every year from 1991 to 1993. He earned recognition as the “Outstanding Resident teacher of the year” in 1993, then proceeded to complete his residency training in 1994. Over the following years, he underwent managerial training at the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management, successfully obtaining his MBA in 2008.

Dr. Swan started his medical career as the staff OBGYN for the 56th Medical Group at Luke Air Force Base, AZ, in July 1994. During this time, he provided comprehensive OBGYN care to military personnel and their dependents, while coordinating with midwives to protect maternal and infant health during childbirth. He further refined his medical training by completing the Aerospace Medicine Primary Course in 1995.

Upon completion of his service at Luke Air Force Base in June of 1997, he successfully transitioned into establishing his medical practice, Swan Urogynecology, in July 1997, and serving as a clinical instructor for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in August 1997. He was appointed Vice Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Baptist Hospital from January 2003 to December 2004, then successfully served as its department Chief from January 2005 to December 2006.
